A Tour of Worthing Art in Just 3 Hours

It might not be the first thing that springs to mind when you think about Worthing, but just below the surface is a thriving arts scene that is well worth exploring.

We’ve produced a handy guide to some of the fascinating locations you can visit on foot in just a few hours but you might want to take a bit longer to have a more in depth look.

Head south down Heene Road towards the seafront. Just before you reach the sea turn left into

Rowlands Road.

A few steps along and you’ll find Worthing Art Studios at No 87. Run by a group of local artists you’ll find beautiful original painting, prints and sculptures many created within the gallery itself. The perfect place to browse, pick up a gift or a unique item for your home.

From here head East along Rowlands Road and into Montague Street. At the turning into Montague Place veer left towards The Montague Centre (soon to be renamed Montague Quarter). Look up to see the Grade II listed 

Desert Quartet – a group of four sculptures by the late Elisabeth Frink.

Walk through the Montague Centre to

Warwick Street, home of many art retailers.

Cross Steyne Gardens and head towards the sea. Just a few minutes along the prom and you’ll find

East Beach Studios – a group of artists working from converted beach huts. The artists there can vary but may include painters, wood workers and jewellery designers.

And after all that you probably deserve a coffee in the brilliant Coast Café next door.

These are just a few of the highlights. You haven’t even been to Worthing Museum and Art Gallery or seen the painted pier panels yet!
